Residential Heater Registration Now Availabale

November 19, 2009

On September 16, 2009 the Board of Supervisors approved revisions to the Linn County Code of Ordinances (LCCO) requiring owners or operators of indirect-fired residential heaters to submit a registration permit for these emission units.  The rule became effective on October 1, 2009.

Completion of this form is intended to allow individuals to register each residential heater instead of obtaining a standard air construction permit while complying with the applicable requirements.  An owner or operator planning to install, modify or reconstruct a residential heater must submit a registration permit.  Additionally, owners or operators of existing residential heaters must submit a registration permit, unless otherwise exempt or required.

The flow of the permit follows closely with the Exemption for Residential Heaters Burning Solid Fuels pursuant to the Linn County Code of Ordinances 10.8(3).

If you are unclear as to whether or not your facility must obtain a standard air construction permit or qualifies for this registration call (319) 892-6000.

A Frequently Asked Questions Guidance Document will be posted in the near future.  Click Residential Heaters Registration for the webpage with the applicable documents.

Registrations for Residential Heaters in existence prior to October 1, 2009 are due February 28, 2010.

Registrations for Residential Heaters installed after October 1, 2009 are due prior to insallation.
